In 2009, after 32 years employment with the company (I had never worked for anyone else!) an international posting failed to materialise and I found myself at a career crossroads at a time when the recession was beginning to bite in the UK.

Although I am naturally optimistic and tend to see the best in all situations I went through all sorts of emotion – disappointment, anxiety, and concerns for the future –even beginning to question my value and ability.

It was at this time that I was introduced to Pursuit NHA who advised me that they could help me with an outplacement programme.

The programme involved several stages, including learning more about myself through the 16PF and MBTI psychometric instruments – they helped me to see more clearly my real strengths, career options and what I could offer a potential employer. I was able to incorporate these factors into my marketing campaign which highlighted what I could offer specific targeted companies.

Throughout the process I was coached and mentored by a Pursuit NHA consultant who guided and advised me in my desire to get the ‘right’ next job.

The help I received was invaluable… and the outcome was that I started a new job, in a similar role, at the end of my period of gardening leave!
